Internetty Bits and Bobs

July has been an odd one for me what with moving into my new house and everything. For most of it we have been making do with the nearby BT hotspot while waiting for our hub to arrive. However I have managed to accumulate a rather long list of links I am excited to share with you all! There’s something for everyone in this months round up.

❤ This recipe for vegan brownies is divine! I made them with my house mates and they went down a storm. (I would recommend cutting the oil by 100ml and upping the water by 100ml as someone in the comments said).

❤ Pugs are my absolute favourite breed of dog and these photos of smug pugs make me love them even more.

Team Girl Comic has one simple aim- to showcase female comic creators and I think it’s a damn good aim.

❤ I love behind the scenes photos and this is a great list of them.

❤ This photo shoot is so magical

❤ A short film about a local Cornish business called Thrashion. They make amazing jewellery out of old skateboards- the bangles are my favourites.

An engagement shoot in a dinosaur themed golf course???!!! Can it get any cooler than that???!!!

❤ Cat’s really are the best animal ever. This story really touched me (and yes I know it’s old!)

Superheroes photo shopped into beautiful environments? Yes please!

❤ I spent far too long on this Benedict Cumberbatch name generator the other day…

❤ Fall Out Boy are one of my favourite bands so when they announced they would be bring out a video to accompany EVERY song from their latest album I was thrilled. Finally all of the videos have been released and can be watched back to back so you can follow the story!

❤ These jokes really make you think.

❤ These images are both beautiful and empowering. I want them all over my walls.

Foxes!!!!!!!! That is all.

❤ Have you ever wanted to see Robert Downey Jr as a pinup model? Well now’s your chance!

❤ Check out these innovative tea infusers– for the tea lover who needs to express themselves.

❤ People who can do impressions amaze me. People who can do SINGING impressions amaze me even more!

❤ Take one one tiny birthday cake, one hedgehog and two hamsters and you have the cutest video ever.

Cakes that are two good to eat are always super fab.

Frozen is the New Black… just watch it and you will see.

This sort of act gives me faith in humanity. Breast feeding mothers should be able to feed their babies wherever they damn well please.

❤ How did I not know Marilyn Manson did a cover of You’re so vain?!

❤ You can wear a piece of a shooting star! How freaking cool is that?

Queen Bey being fabulous as always!

Using fashion to help the homeless in a practical way, hells to the yeah!

❤ Making something 3D seem 2D is a real skill.

❤ And finally my Mum’s blog! She’s been writing some great posts lately especially her post about all the things Jim our kitten has taught us about life and her post about the Falmouth Fashion show.

Woah that was a biggie! I hope you all find something that interests you in there. Hopefully I will be posting at least 2 more posts on the blog this week- one about my trips to St.Ives and Eden and another about the fashion show. I also plan on making a little Etsy haul video sometime soon so keep your eyes peeled.

Toodles for now!

She Speaks!

Sorry I’ve been a bit quiet lately. We still don’t have internet in the new house so I am having to make do with the BT hotspot down the road util our hub arrives. Lots has been going on and changing and it feels great!

I have been thinking about making some youtube videos for a while now and today I decided to take the plunge. I love writing and will still be writing posts way more often than recording videos however some things just work out better when filmed. I want to share some hauls and vlogs with you guys and I have a new house tour in the works.

For now I have recorded a good old TMI video for you all. I thought it would be a great way to test the waters while also sharing a bit more about me.

Subscribe on youtube if you liked what you saw and let me know what you think in the comments either on here or over there.

Toodles for now!

Bored Baking

Hello! So I am all set up in my lovely new house… except we have limited internet access until our box arrives on the 23rd. A bit annoying but oh well. In the mean time I am trying to be more present and do things I haven’t done for a while. I finally started “The Ocean at the End of the Lane” by Neil Gaiman today which I borrowed off my Mum weeks ago. I also decided to do a wee bit of baking this evening which I haven’t done much of lately.

Tah Dah! I made more than shown but they went down a treat and these were the only ones left! I found a pretty basic recipe online then just modified it to make it work with what I had in my kitchen. They were also vegan which is a bonus, meaning my housemate could enjoy them too!

Here’s the recipe I used:

– 225g (8oz) of Pure dairy free spread (any spread or butter would work)                               – 110g (4oz) Sugar (I just used regular sugar but you could use caster sugar)                       – 275g (10oz) Plain Flour

Preheat the oven to 170oC (375oF or gas mark 3). Cream the spread until it’s soft. Mix in the sugar until it’s nice and combined and kinda fluffy. Sieve in the flour then get in there with your hands and mix until you form a nice dough.

I used a cookie cutter so I took bits of dough and flattened them with my hand before pressing in the cutter. You could just form small balls and slightly flatten them, whatever you prefer really! Then transfer your cookies to a baking tray with baking paper on. bake for 15-20 minutes then leave to cool on  a cooling rack until you can wait no longer!

You could make the recipe more interesting by adding chocolate chips, vanilla, cinnamon or even jelly beans!

I used this awesome Gingerdead Men cookie cutter to make the shapes. I brought this ages ago at the shop I used to work in but only now got around to giving it a go! The idea id you use one side to cut the man shape out the you flip the cutter over and press the other side into the dough to create the skeleton imprint. I am obsessed with skulls, bones and creepy things but also baking so this was totally up my street!

The imprint didn’t come out as well as I had hoped but I think that’s mainly down to the thinness of my cookies and forgetting to put flour on the cutter to stop it sticking. Overall I loved it! They made pretty big cookies, which in my mind is always a good thing. You can make out the skeleton imprint and I mean come on- how freaking cool is it???!!! I would recommend this cookie cutter to anyone who wants to bring a bit of spook to their baking.

Best of all they taste great! For such a simple recipe they are super yummy. I think Oli and Sonera wanted to eat them all! The Pure spread worked really well as it has a slightly sweet taste anyway. Because I used regular sugar not caster sugar the cookies had a lovely texture and a bit of crunch. I see these cookies becoming a regular fixture in our house!
