So yeah, basically it’s fucking rad as balls! To find out more click here, and if you do decide to sign up quote my name (Emma Robinson) when signing up and we will each get a voucher to spend on the Crown and Glory site!

Anyway, August 2016 marks the 2 year anniversary of the Glitterati! 2 years of amazing glitter filled fun! I have been a member since September 2014 so nearly the whole time. I’ve had so much fun receiving my box each month and planning how I’m going to wear all the fabulous pieces. The facebook group has really been the cherry on top of the mega pie that is the Glitterati. So many amazing women all in one place sharing selfies, achievements, plans, worries, pet photos, the list goes on. It has become so much more than just a subscription box. I have had the pleasure of going to five different Glitterati meet ups now. Each one has been so much fun! I’ve made so many friends and taken so many selfies. Seriously, this group has been life changing and given me so much confidence so thank you so much to Sophie and Gareth for bring us all together and of course to the amazing souls who make the Glitterati what it is- a family.

On to the unboxing! I’m really getting into filming videos for youtube lately so I decided to film an unboxing video. I had so much fun filming it… not so much fun cleaning up… you will see what I mean if you watch the video below!

Happy Birthday to the Glitterati! Here’s to another year of awesomeness.

If you enjoyed the video please subscribe to my youtube channel to see what I get up to next. Feel free to comment on this post or on the video to let me know what you think.

My Trip to London!

So as you will know if you read my last blog post I went to London about a week ago. My main reason for going was the Glitterati party however I decided to make a weekend of it with my friend Saskia who lives in London.

I was super nervous about travelling up on my own. The furtherest I’d ever been alone before was Exeter and that was all by train. This was a 6 hour coach journey from Plymouth all on my lonesome. I made sure to get some Rescue Remedy pastels after one of the Glitterati girls recommended them and packed my ipod and a good book to tide me over. The journey was actually much better and easier than I expected it to be. Everything ran to schedule until we hit central London, which is kinda to be expected, and I got a lot of reading done. Saskia met me at the station and all was good. We took a tube back to hers and had a good catch up over Dominos pizza.

We had a few places we wanted to visit on the Saturday before I went to the party and the first one was Cuppa Cha in China Town. Saskia had been going on about bubble tea for ages and I was super keen to try some but when we got there it was sadly shut. Undeterred we decided to pop along to the new 3 storey Lush on Oxford Street and come back later.

Oxford Street Lush is freaking amazing! It’s so massive and colourful and just heavenly for a girl like me. We spent a good hour wandering around the floors just looking and smelling before I even put anything in my basket. What I found super cool and odd is how each floor smelt totally different. On the top floor, where all the bath bombs are, I was tasked with finding my sister one of the 200 exclusive products that she would like. After some fun demonstrations I went with the Frozen bath bomb and an “I am a radiant being” bath oil. On the middle floor I had my arm ex-foliated with this awesome soap-powder stuff. It’s kinda like washing powder but for your skin. It made my arm super soft. We then went down to the relaxing bottom floor and both had an arm massage. So calming after the rush upstairs. I was pretty reserved and only bought myself 3 things. (At the end of this post I will include a haul video so you can see everything I bought whilst away.)

After all that Lush intensity we decided it was time to go back to Cuppa Cha then get some lunch. The bubble tea was amazing! I went for a mango tea with strawberry popping pearls and it was both refreshing and fun to drink. It’s a pretty weird sensation having the tiny bubbles pop in your mouth, releasing extra favours, but it was so fun and I bought 2 more bubble teas from another place while I was away. We then went to Yo Sushi for lunch which was pretty nostalgic for us because we ate in the same place we went to almost 4 years ago! I successfully managed to eat my whole meal, including noodles, with chopsticks which is a serious achievement for me. We then went to Topshop for a browse but only bough one thing before heading off to Kensington for the party. We promptly got lost but were eventually saved by an army of glittery angels but you can read more about that here.

I caught the tube back to Waterloo from Kensington with a little help from the wonderful Glitterati member Amber. She made sure I got on the right train and told me where to change for which I am forever grateful. I usually get panicky trying to plan things and figure out where I’m going but once I am on my way I’m fine. Saskia met me from the station again and we went back to hers and spent the rest of the night watching Eurovision and getting way too into it! I love watching Eurovision with friends, you never really know what to expect.

On the Sunday the plan was to go the the East End Thrift Store however due to a bus replacement we got kinda lost and confused in Whitechapel and ended up going for a cheeky Nando’s instead. It was surprisingly yummy and I can confirm much banter occurred and we did see some “lads”. As we had some time left after our cheeky detour we decided to pop back over to Topshop so I could get something else and we could just have a bit more of a browse. Saskia ended up getting the most amazing varsity-type jacket with “Girl Gang” embroidered across the back. So cute and so perfectly her.

H&M ended up being out final shopping destination and I was somewhat overwhelmed by just how many floors there were! You could so easily get lost in there! I picked up a bunch of things to try on but before I got to the changing room I noticed a photobooth. I never like to pass up a good photobooth moment so of course I was digging around in my wallet straight away. We put the money in and looked at the screen expecting instructions but before we could even sit down the flash went off and the first photo was snapped! We managed to sit down and somewhat compose ourselves for the second shot but I love the above result! It’s very silly and us.

That night we chilled out eating cookies and doing facemasks, embracing the sleepover vibe. We also had a rather hilarious suncream related incident where everything in my bag ended up covered in it! It was one of those disastrous times when just when you think you’ve got everything sorted more goes wrong and more mess is caused. I don’t think I’ve laughed that hard for a long time though!

On the Monday I had to go home, boo hoo. We of course took a goodbye selfie before heading back to the coach station. I bought the biggest doughnut I have ever seen from a vendor near Victoria coach station. It was almost the size of my head and boy was it delicious. Om nom nom indeed! At the station I had the pleasure of encountering a super happy, bubbly bathroom attendant. She really brightened up my sad, going home day. I got back to Plymouth ahead of schedule which was awesome and my Dad met me and took me back home to Falmouth. I had an amazing trip and after travelling up on my own I feel like I can do anything!

I filmed a wee haul video showing all the things I bought in London if you are interested. If you like the video remember to give it a thumbs up and maybe even subscribe.

The Glitterati Parties- London

IMG_20150528_191945197 Last Saturday (the 23rd of May) Sophie from Crown and Glory organised an amazing party for the Glitterati subscribers and it was amazing! I travelled all the way up to London for it and it was so worth the journey.

About half of the group were planning on meeting in Kensington Gardens for a wee picnic before hand but me and Saskia were running late and were kinda lost. However all was okay when I spotted a group of colourful, glittery, flower-adorned women waving at me from across the street. I had found my people! When I was safely with them Saskia went home and we went for a little Cafe Nero break before heading off to the party… half an hour early, oops! Sophie wasn’t expecting us early and it cause a bit of a queue on the stairs to the basement, where the Crown and Glory Candy Bar was, but we were all happy to finally be there!

The first thing we were treated to was our amazing goodie bags full of treats from the likes of Oh Squirrel, Sugar and Vice and I love Crafty. It was so funny watching everyone try to figure out what the mini macarons were- are they edible. rubbers, lipbalms? (turns out they are little pots) All of the gifts were so thoughtful but the icing on the cake for me has to be the cards everyone got. Each one was different and filled with a personal heartfelt message, my Veronica Dearly card made me smile so much. Our ticket price included creating a custom flower crown, headband, clip or facinator from the Crown and Glory Candy Shop. I chose pink, turquoise and purple flowers and some sparkly crystals to create a glorious headband. We will be getting them in next months box so I will be sure to share it with you!

The party continued upstairs in the beautiful Anges de Sucre with many a glass of prosecco and some of their adorable and delicious mini macarons, cupcakes, bownies and marshmallows. I was on such a sugar high all night! I spoke to so many amazing women and got totally wrapped up in the whole magical experience and forgot to take many photos however a few other people did take some and are okay with me sharing them so here’s a little photographic snippet of the night.

So cute and so freaking yummy! You can order these treats online and trust me when I say- soon they will be mine once again *slightly evil, sugar induced laugh*.

The décor inside and our is so pretty and perfect for a flowery party. I need their wallpaper in my future home.

I have no idea what I was taking about but everyone seems to be interested! I was so nervous about meeting so many new people all at once but they were all so nice and welcoming that it felt like chatting away to old friends almost instantly. There wasn’t one awkward silence all night and I felt completely at home.

I’ve been calling this my “cool blogger photo” because it just looks so professional and networky. I realise now that makes no sense but I know what I mean. I felt very in my element, all my anxiety vanished for the evening and I am so proud of myself. Luckily I remembered to take a selfie with the wonderful owner of Crown and Glory- Sophie. She was so nice and we had a great chat about Cornwall and small businesses and going charity shopping in Falmouth because that’s where all the good things are! I tried to hold in my inner fangirl but then remembered the project I did at uni last year that centred around Crown and Glory- I hope I didn’t come across as too much of a weirdo! I once again attempted to control my inner fangirl when I got the chance to snap a selfie with Kat from Rock ‘n’ Roll Bride. She was amazing and so easy to talk to. I told her how happy her recent post about body positivity and not feeling pressured to loose weight for your wedding made me. On another note don’t our hair colours go so well together?! Kat was such a babe and I’m so glad I plucked up the courage to talk to her.

I had such a fabulous night with some freaking amazing people! The Glitterati party in London will always hold a place in my heart as will everyone I met there. I don’t have to wait too long to see some of these babes again though because I am going to the Glitterati party in Birmingham on June 20th! So excited and this time I will try to take more photos! Thank you to the staff at Anges de Sucre for providing sweet treats, Sophie and Gareth for putting on an amazing event and constantly creating beautiful head candy and the Glitterati girls for just being their wonderful selves! Keep your eyes peeled for more about my trip to London! Toodles!

April Favourites

This is a little bit later than intended, oops! But it’s deadline season for us uni students so I’m sure you all understand. This is a bit of a mixed bunch and not very big as I have been trying really hard to be careful with money so I have more for the summer. I hope you enjoy!

Beauty

First up we have Barry M Sunset daylight curing nail varnishes. I wrote a whole blog post about these rad little guys so I won’t go into too much detail here but check that post out. All I will say here is they freaking rock! Next we have the Body Shop Vitamin E Eyes Cube which I got in limited edition packaging hence why it looks different in the link. This little tube has been a life saver lately after long nights getting shit done. It’s kind of like a chunky twist up lip balm but for around and under your eyes. It’s so cooling, moisturising and refreshing and leaves you looking much more away and glowy. I would defiantly recommend it’s cooling properties as we come into the summer. Last in the beauty category we have The Comforter Perfume by Lush. This smells amazing but sadly you cannot currently buy it as it was a Lush Kitchen exclusive around Christmas time. It is perfect for this time of year; super sweet and summery. Keep your eyes on the Lush Kitchen though because you never know when it might come back.

Crown and Glory

Yet again we have a whole section dedicated to the awesome hair accessories of Crown and Glory. I have been loving the April Glitterati Box, so gosh darn pretty. My most worn piece from this box has to be the Not a Lotta Rosie Headband in Icecream.  I already have the medium version of this but having the small version as well have been awesome! It works really well with braided bunches I find. The light blue glitter bunny ears are also cute as hell and I will be wearing them all year round, not just at Easter. If you want to join the Glitterati then you should totally put me, Emma Robinson, as your referrer and we both get a £10 voucher! How cool is that? Here’s a link if you want to check it out.

Food and Drink

Bringing in a new category, oh yeah. I bought this Baobab Fruit Powder when I was last at The Eden Project and it is great! I opted for a big jar because it works out better value but you can buy in in smaller quantities. You can add it to smoothies, juice, water, pasta sauce, anything you want really. It has a citrus taste which is nice to spruce up most things. It is considered to be the ultimate super fruit offering loads of essential nutrients. I find it gives me a similar energy boost to coffee but without the come down. So woo to Baobab! Next we have the Nature Valley Canadian Maple Syrup oat bar. I love these, they are my go to snack when I am out an peckish. They are lovely and sweet so are a great healthy alternative to a chocolate bar. You can get them pretty much anywhere in the UK in single bars or multipacks. Finally Alpro Unsweetened Almond “milk”. I’ve loved this for ages as I don’t really like cows milk so I thought I would pop it in here again this month. Again you can buy it in most supermarkets. I have tried other brands but this is by far my favourite. It is light, almondy but not overpoweringly so and tastes great on Cheerios.

Stickers!

Last but by no means least I just had to include these adorable stickers I bough from The Tiny Hobo on Etsy. Look how cute and body positive they are?! I love them so much I ordered two more packs. I mainly use them in my journal at the start of each entry and they just make it look much more awesome.

And that is that, I hope you like the things I’ve been enjoying this month.

February Favourites

February has really flown past, I can’t believe I am making this post again already. I’ve done a bit of shopping this month so unlike January’s Favourites these are all things I have brought throughout the month. Next month is going to be a bit more of a quiet-money saving month… well until the 21st when I go to the Harry Potter Studio Tour! Let’s begin before I start obsessing over Harry Potter to you guys!

IMG_20150227_185328553

Beauty

This month, in a bid to stop biting my nails, I have been loving painting them. I didn’t really have any nail varnishes so I popped down to Superdrug and picked up these Barry M beauties. I went for Strawberry Ice Cream and Berry Ice Cream because I wanted soft, subtle colours that would work well with all of my clothes. They are both super pretty and last really well with a clear topcoat. The Berry shade needs 2 coats to reach a good colour whereas the Strawberry needs 3 but it is so worth it! I also remembered I had some nail varnishes as a Christmas Present. They just came in a gift set from Wilkos but this silver shade is amazing! So pretty and sparkly and only really needs one coat. I have also been loving this Clay Time Purifying Face Mask from Wilkos. It is a pretty nice sized tub for only £3. It makes a nice weekend pamper treat and really does make my face feel that little bit softer. Deffo a must for pampering on the cheap.

IMG_20150227_185618676

Nail Decals

I got this pack of nail decals from my Glitterati Secret Santa at Christmas and only got around to giving them a try this month. They are so cute and so easy to use so I just had to buy some more sets! You get about 100 nail decals in a pack so between the one I already had and the 2 I brought I should be okay for quite sometime. I went for some simple black cats (which have sold out online) and some super cute unicons, cats, bunnies and tiaras! The work kinda like tattoo transfers and can actually be used on skin if you want. I have found a new obsession.

IMG_20150227_185927646

Candles

These two cuties were one of my valentines day presents to myself. They are from a lovely litter Etsy shop called Ember Candle Co and these were a special valentines day duo in a lovely strawberries and cream sent. I don’t think I will ever be able to bring myself to burn these little guys but they are scenting my room as it is. I am fully intending on buying a pastel blue and lilac one at some point and the best part is you can mix and match the scents, so I could have a mint smelling lilac candle!

IMG_20150227_185839815

Accessories (and a cushion…)

This months Crown and Glory favourites are just so lovely. The Scarf Bow Headband came in my February Glitterati box and has become my go to headband for days when I just want something simple to just add a little something-something. I have been lusting over the Lotta Rosie Headband in Ice Cream for quite some time now so was super excited to finally purchase it. It is so “me” and goes perfectly with all of my pretty dresses. I will be wearing this so much in spring and summer. I just had to include my Love Definition pillow from Primark because it was just staring at me. It’s so simple and cute and because it’s grey it works with all of our different coloured bedding sets.

TV / Netflix

Community was added to UK Netflix this month and this made me a very happy Emma. I had been wanting to watch it for ages so couldn’t wait to get stuck in. Me and Oli marathoned all 5 seasons in the space of about 2 weeks and boy was it a good 2 weeks. This series is hilarious and I am so happy it is returning for a 6th season. If you haven’t watched this then I highly recommend you give it a go.

Last Minute Faves

I was in Exeter this week for my friends birthday and I did a wee bit of shopping and although I only brought these bits within the last few days of the month I really wanted to add them in here because they are awesome. I popped in to Urban Outfitters and picked up this adorable fabric covered photo album with “Parties with my bitches” printed on the front. I’m going to print out some of my Instagram photos at the end of the year and this is going to be their home. I popped into Primark to get some leggings and basic crop tops and saw this amazing neon pink notebook just as I was going to pay and I fell in love. I think it’s going to become my new Journal because it makes me smile so much. It’s really good quality and was only £2.

I also took a wee trip to Lush and tried on a bit of the Vanillary Solid Perfume then went on with my way. However I spent all evening smelling this gorgeous smell and it took me hours to figure out it was the perfume. I went straight back the next day and brought myself one and now I cannot stop smelling it. It’s amazing and sweet and subtle and yummy! It’s mainly vanilla scented, as the name suggests, but it also has notes of tonka and jasmine which is probably why I love it so much, jasmine is totally my jam scent wise. I’m going to be wearing this everyday because it’s soft and subtle so will work with other scents (espeically Lust and The Comforter Lush perfumes) but is also amazing on it’s own.

So there you go, all the products I have been loving this month I hope this helped or inspired or entertained you.

“How Old Are You?!”- What’s In My Bag

This post has been inspired by two things. The first being this months Crown and Glory Glitterati photo challenge. We needed to take a “what’s in my bag” photo including our awesome Veronica Dearly keyring that we received in the box. I took the above photo for my instagram and then decided it would make a great blogging topic. The second inspiration behind this post comes from an experience I had while ice skating at The Eden Project. As I handed my bag over to the man behind the ice skate counter he laughed upon seeing the My Little Pony motif and asked me how old I was. I personally think that you are never too old for fun, cute, colourful things. So here is the contents of my oh so grown up bag;

img_20141222_223308298This is my rather large purse I brought in September in Primark. I tried using a small purse for a while in the hopes that it would force me to get rid of receipts more often. No such luck! So I gave in a brought a massive one. I love this purse and think it is adorable. It’s full of my millions of cards and currently only 7p. I always have an “emergency” teabag in my bag. It was my Mum’s idea and I think it’s great especially if, like me, you don’t like normal tea. Lady Grey by Twinings is my favourite tea so I always have some at hand.

img_20141222_223334673All of my cosy winter essentials. The scarf was crocheted for me by my awesome Nana. The hat was knitted by me with some awesome wool a friend gave me to reuse. The gloves are from Accessorize and sadly have a wee hole in the thumb. I think they all go pretty nicely together and they keep me lovely and snug.

img_20141222_223432232

I almost always have a random Crown and Glory small glitter bow hanging around somewhere in the bottom of my bag. This one is in the colour Candyfloss and is my current fave. I only have 2 keys attached to my keyrings- the plain one is my house key and the funky patterned one is for my Mum’s house. The Veronica Dearly keyring that was in my box is perfect for me. It says “Congrats on your lovely hair” and if I do say so myself I do have pretty fab hair. It’s really nice and chunky too which is nice, I don’t feel like it’s just going to fall apart in my bag. I also have a glow-in-the-dark sperm keyring attached to my keys. Me and my Mum both have one and it’s become a bit of a standing joke. I got them at Truro Pride one year and they have been protecting our keys ever since.

img_20141222_223457163

What can I say, I like to keep soft! I always have my very battered tin of Honey Trap Lush lip balm in my bag. I’ve had it for over a year and it’s still going strong. It’s the only product I’ve tried that really helps yucky, chapped winter lips. A new bag staple is my Soap and Glory Hand Dream Super Cream which I talk about in this post. It makes my hands feel amazing and I freaking love the scent.

img_20141222_223540176

img_20141222_223620568On to some beauty products. My favourite mascara comes everywhere with me. I use the Define and Lengthen Mascara by The Body Shop. It lasts, doesn’t smudge and does what it says on the tube. I was surprised by how few lipsticks I had in my bag. Usually there’s loads in there! We have two of my favourite lipsticks from the Rimmel Moisture Renew range. Amethyst Shimmer is my go to when I want a pop of colour whereas Vintage Pink is more or a natural, “your lips but better” colour. Another newer addition to my everyday essentials is the Barry M Cor Balmy in the shade Currant Bun. It’s a really moisturising tinted lip balm which happens to smell good enough to eat!

img_20141222_223713953

On to the little random bits that everyone has in their bags. We have my pink ipod shuffle which comes literally everywhere with me. I always listen to music when I walk, it comforts me. A hair band because I have hair… yeah. And of course a pen, you never know when you might need one. This is a Zebra pen because they are my preferred pen brand. I don’t know if it’s weird to have a pen preference but I do, let me know in the comments if you do.

img_20141222_223752735

Finally the bag itself. I got this in Primark ages ago when they had loads of My Little Pony stuff in. It’s a pretty large tote bag which I need for all the crap I lug around on a daily basis. I love it and will be gutted if it ever breaks. I also tend to carry my phone with me but I was using it to take the photos! I have a Moto G 4G which I only got about a month ago and I am loving it. I’m still in the new phone phase where I sometimes get really confused but that’s just me being terrible with technology.

So that’s what’s in my bag. This turned into a much longer post than it was meant to be but oh well! I hope you enjoyed this sneak peek into my everyday life.
