Time To Get My Shit Together

tumblr_o6knr2dt281qliczno1_500

Time for yet more honesty and opening up from this chick. Things are still pretty tough right now. I’m still struggling with uni, social situations are still tricky and there are still days where I can’t even get out of bed. But I can see improvements. I’m only having to apply for an extended deadline for one essay. I just got a first on a presentation in class. I’ve been out with friends a lot more. I just went away for the weekend to Bristol for a meetup. I am trying and it is working. I’m an impatient person and I wanted things to be better just like that but the realist in me knows that’s not how things work. There’s no magic wand that can fix my mental health. But there is medication, therapy, friends, family, eating well, positive thoughts and actions. I might never be free of this but a mixture of those things sure will help.

tumblr_o6o9922ltw1qliczno1_500

It’s coming up to summer break now and I want to work on making more positive life changes so that third year will be the best yet. I’m a typical Virgo so I love making lists so here’s a list of things I want to do over the summer that I think will vastly improve my state of mind:

❤ Read at least 3 books– I have been having massive problems with concentration lately and I used to be such a book worm so I think working on getting back into reading will really help this.

❤ Have the house tidy AF– My part of the house is embarrassingly messy. I put this down to my depression and my general messy habits. But enough is enough. I am fed up of this and I am going to make this place organised and spotless!

❤ Sort out my clothes– My style has taken a bit of a U-turn lately and I have brought a lot of clothes to go with that… most of which are living in a suitcase cause my wardrobe is full. I need to let go of things that don’t fit and things that don’t make me feel fabulous as hell.

❤ Get back into blogging– Hey I’m making a good start on this already! I’m not going to set myself any massive goals but if I’m blogging at least once a week I will be happy. I have a whole list of things I want to write about so hopefully that will keep me going.

❤ Sort out my sleeping pattern– because going to bed at 3am every night really fucks with my head.

❤ Practice my spirituality more– I have a new, beautiful pack of oracle cards I brought over a month ago that I still haven’t touched. I need to get back in touch with the earth and my soul.

❤ Stop biting my nails– I did achieve this goal for a while, then things got stressful again. I want to get to a point where my nails are so nice I wouldn’t even dream of ruining them.

So there we go. This summer I’m gonna get my shit together. I’m not saying I’m going to be all better and hunky dory but I am determined to get myself in a better head space than the one I’m in now.

Thank you for bearing with me!

Breaking My Silence

Okay, time to be honest. I haven’t been very well lately and I am really struggling. It’s taken me a really long time to come to terms with this and actually reach out for help and give myself a break. I suffer from depression and anxiety and have done since I was about thirteen or fourteen. I didn’t know what was going on back then but that was what it was then and what it is today.

Back in my first year of uni in early 2014 I tried to get some help but gave up too easily and just tried to keep pushing through, constantly exhausting myself and making excuses for not meeting up with my friends or attending my classes. However this year I decided I have had enough and went to the doctors and got a formal diagnoses and some help. My doctor was really lovely and a felt like I could open up and be really honest with her about how much I have been struggling to just survive. I sound like I am being over-dramatic but trust me I’m not. That’s how it can feel for people with depression- you just loose the will to live and find basic everyday tasks like getting food and having a shower virtually impossible. When you throw anxiety into the mix it makes things ever more frustrating. I panic and worry about all these things I could and should be doing but the depressed voice in my head tells me that it’s not worth the effort anyway and there’s no point even trying. It’s a constant contradiction and it is so tiring to go through again and again.

I’m currently on some medication to attempt to sort out the chemical imbalance in my brain that is causing the depression so I can start working on coping strategies to overcome the anxiety. Annoyingly right now after five and a half weeks the tablets are making my anxiety much worse and my mood hasn’t really lifted that much overall. However I’m not going to give up, there are different doses and different medications that work best for different people. I was so scared to go on medication because it felt like giving in but it’s not like that at all. It’s a super strong thing to do. It’s stepping up and saying “hi, I need help, I can’t fix this illness with sheer willpower” and there’s nothing wrong with that. Depression is an illness and just like any other illness you deserve to get the right treatment for you so you can live your best life.

I’m having a pretty good day today which feels pretty weird as I have been feeling so shit lately. It makes me feel somewhat guilty which I know is ridiculous. My rational brain hates this illness. To combat that guilty feeling I decided to write this post to share my truth and let other people know they are not alone. I also hope if you are one of my friends reading this it explains why I have been so distant lately. Since being open and honest with myself I have felt so much less pressure.

My university has been amazingly helpful since I told them how bad things have been for me. I have an extended deadline for my work as I literally cannot focus on anything, not even a movie, on a bad day. The living support team and my personal tutor have been amazing at pointing me in the right direction and letting me take things at my own pace. My friends and family have also been way more understanding than I ever imagined. I know that won’t be the same for everybody but you never know until you speak up.

Speaking up can be the hardest thing for some people, let alone people with mental health conditions but it really does lift so much pressure from you to just tell someone and start down that path to a better life. I don’t know if I will ever be fully better but I do know that things can improve. I will always have good days and bad days but being open about my depression and anxiety means that people know why I’m acting the way I am, even if they don’t fully understand it. Anyway, I’m going to stop rambling on now. I hope this blog post explained some things and maybe gave some people some hope. Thank you for reading this far. If you have any questions or comments feel free to leave them below.

A Very Jolly, Very Vegan Christmas

Hello everyone! I hope you all had a lovely festive period. We are now in that odd floaty time between Christmas and New Years when no one quite knows what to do. I’m filling some of that time with some slightly self indulgent end of year posts. First things first I want to share some photos and memories from My Christmas with you.

tumblr_nzue56eslq1u2kwfpo1_1280

Firstly we have a tale of mince pie woes. I attempted to make mince pies using a jar of mince mix and some Just Roll puff pastry. Too bad I forgot the fundamental property of puff pastry… it PUFFS up! Yeah they kinda exploded just a little bit. But they were super tasty and that’s what matters right? I chucked some Alpro soya custard on them and all was good.

Christmas trees galore! The one on the left is mine and the one on the right is my Mum’s. I did a post last year about the decorations on my tree but this year I added a freaking Deathstar bauble! How awesome is that? Mum’s tree is always a beautiful colour coordinated masterpiece where as I kinda just chuck my decorations at the tree and hope for the best. The photo of Mum’s tree isn’t the best but it is whit with stunning purple and sliver decorations.

Family! Christmas for me is all about family. Me and Oli trundled up to my Mum’s house on Christmas eve to spend the Christmas period there. Nana came up on Christmas morning to open presents with us then she popped of to my Uncle’s house across town for dinner. We spent the day playing with our presents, eating great food watching Love Actually and playing silly card games like Adventure Time Top Trumps (thank you Oli for the awesome present) and Cards Against Humanity.

On Boxing day Nana came round again and we had another lovely meal and played yet more games- this time the Trivial Pursuit made it’s annual appearance with Nana taking home the crown.

On the day after Boxing day me and Jenny ventured into Truro the brave the sales. Honestly we were mainly going to see what was in the 50% off sale in lush. I got a lovely body scrub bar and some hair oil. We went for a festive Starbucks trip before heading home. Before me and Oli left to go back to ours we sat down to tea and watched the Big Fat Quiz of the Year and didn’t do too bad. Although we would have lost if we had been on the show, we did totally nail the last bonus points round.

Food glorious food! There was lots of food, as yo would expect from a family Christmas in England. Top right hand photo is my Christmas day  lunch of nibbles including crackers with vegan spread, pickles, pretzels and Violife vegan cheese. The bottom picture is my epic Christmas dinner pre stuffing and gravy. I had the Tofurky vegan roast as the main part of my meal and boy was it good! So moist and yummy. It was also great cold the next day, as seen above, with chips and peas. I also had 2 sandwiches full of Tofurky so I call that a success.

Mum also made me my very own bactch of 18 vegan cupcakes, the last of which I ate yesterday, ooops! I’m honestly kinda impressed that I ate that many! I had plenty of boiled sweets and snacky crackers as well as vegan chocolate- Mum even found vegan chocolate coins!

I got so many lovely presents that I am so super grateful for! Thank you everyone for being so generous and knowing me so well! Some of my personal favourites include a Harry Potter colouring book, The Vegan Stoner Cookbook, a beautiful Lush gift set, Adventure Time top trumps and adorable stickers. I love you all so much, once again thank you times a million!

10390958_1085491221484796_8058799952717247131_n (1).jpg

I also once again took part in the Crown and Glory Glitterati Secret Santa. Mine arrived in the post about a week before Christmas but I really wanted to save it for the big day. I love everything! The book looks fascinating, I love looking at other peoples tattoos and learning more about its history. Also “Beautiful” is my favourite shower gel from Lush and I’m just running out so absolutely perfect timing. Thank you to my mystery gift giver.

So that was my Christmas 2015! I hope you all had a lovely time and are feeling happy and positive about the new year. I’m hoping to post again before 2016 but just in case I don’t I hope you all have a fabulous night leading into an amazing year.

Things I Love Thursday

❤ Sunny days off where I can wear all the rainbow colours and blend in with nature.

❤ Date days with Oli 🙂 we spent some time wandering around the blustery beaches of Falmouth.

❤ Going to the Pub quiz at The Lounge with my friends on a Sunday. Both times we have been we have come 2nd which I think is pretty good. There’s loads of random old portraits everywhere and we always sit under this huge painting with Stalin in which always makes us giggle.

❤ Throwback Thursday- looking back at old photos (this one is almost 5 years ago) and seeing how far I have come. I do love this photo although young Emma did make some interesting fashion choices.

❤ The yellow balloons.

❤ Kitty snuggles. I had some quality time with Campus Cat on my way home from work the other day. So cute, I mean look at that totally blissed out face. This is one super loved kitty who gets a lot of love.

❤ Having lunch and a catch up with Sarah. She made me yummy food and I finally watched The Hunger Games which was cool.

❤ Soooooooooo many sweet potato fries from just one potato!

❤ Now seems as gooder time as any to announce this- I have gone vegan and it feels so good! It’s something I have been thinking about for quite some time now, I mean I’ve been a veggie for 7 years now. Now just felt like the right time to take the leap, it felt natural and right. So yay! I will be posting more about my journey including some recipes and reviews of random foods I try but don’t worry, it won’t change the nature of the blog- it just might be a bit yummier!

My Trip to London!

So as you will know if you read my last blog post I went to London about a week ago. My main reason for going was the Glitterati party however I decided to make a weekend of it with my friend Saskia who lives in London.

I was super nervous about travelling up on my own. The furtherest I’d ever been alone before was Exeter and that was all by train. This was a 6 hour coach journey from Plymouth all on my lonesome. I made sure to get some Rescue Remedy pastels after one of the Glitterati girls recommended them and packed my ipod and a good book to tide me over. The journey was actually much better and easier than I expected it to be. Everything ran to schedule until we hit central London, which is kinda to be expected, and I got a lot of reading done. Saskia met me at the station and all was good. We took a tube back to hers and had a good catch up over Dominos pizza.

We had a few places we wanted to visit on the Saturday before I went to the party and the first one was Cuppa Cha in China Town. Saskia had been going on about bubble tea for ages and I was super keen to try some but when we got there it was sadly shut. Undeterred we decided to pop along to the new 3 storey Lush on Oxford Street and come back later.

Oxford Street Lush is freaking amazing! It’s so massive and colourful and just heavenly for a girl like me. We spent a good hour wandering around the floors just looking and smelling before I even put anything in my basket. What I found super cool and odd is how each floor smelt totally different. On the top floor, where all the bath bombs are, I was tasked with finding my sister one of the 200 exclusive products that she would like. After some fun demonstrations I went with the Frozen bath bomb and an “I am a radiant being” bath oil. On the middle floor I had my arm ex-foliated with this awesome soap-powder stuff. It’s kinda like washing powder but for your skin. It made my arm super soft. We then went down to the relaxing bottom floor and both had an arm massage. So calming after the rush upstairs. I was pretty reserved and only bought myself 3 things. (At the end of this post I will include a haul video so you can see everything I bought whilst away.)

After all that Lush intensity we decided it was time to go back to Cuppa Cha then get some lunch. The bubble tea was amazing! I went for a mango tea with strawberry popping pearls and it was both refreshing and fun to drink. It’s a pretty weird sensation having the tiny bubbles pop in your mouth, releasing extra favours, but it was so fun and I bought 2 more bubble teas from another place while I was away. We then went to Yo Sushi for lunch which was pretty nostalgic for us because we ate in the same place we went to almost 4 years ago! I successfully managed to eat my whole meal, including noodles, with chopsticks which is a serious achievement for me. We then went to Topshop for a browse but only bough one thing before heading off to Kensington for the party. We promptly got lost but were eventually saved by an army of glittery angels but you can read more about that here.

I caught the tube back to Waterloo from Kensington with a little help from the wonderful Glitterati member Amber. She made sure I got on the right train and told me where to change for which I am forever grateful. I usually get panicky trying to plan things and figure out where I’m going but once I am on my way I’m fine. Saskia met me from the station again and we went back to hers and spent the rest of the night watching Eurovision and getting way too into it! I love watching Eurovision with friends, you never really know what to expect.

On the Sunday the plan was to go the the East End Thrift Store however due to a bus replacement we got kinda lost and confused in Whitechapel and ended up going for a cheeky Nando’s instead. It was surprisingly yummy and I can confirm much banter occurred and we did see some “lads”. As we had some time left after our cheeky detour we decided to pop back over to Topshop so I could get something else and we could just have a bit more of a browse. Saskia ended up getting the most amazing varsity-type jacket with “Girl Gang” embroidered across the back. So cute and so perfectly her.

H&M ended up being out final shopping destination and I was somewhat overwhelmed by just how many floors there were! You could so easily get lost in there! I picked up a bunch of things to try on but before I got to the changing room I noticed a photobooth. I never like to pass up a good photobooth moment so of course I was digging around in my wallet straight away. We put the money in and looked at the screen expecting instructions but before we could even sit down the flash went off and the first photo was snapped! We managed to sit down and somewhat compose ourselves for the second shot but I love the above result! It’s very silly and us.

That night we chilled out eating cookies and doing facemasks, embracing the sleepover vibe. We also had a rather hilarious suncream related incident where everything in my bag ended up covered in it! It was one of those disastrous times when just when you think you’ve got everything sorted more goes wrong and more mess is caused. I don’t think I’ve laughed that hard for a long time though!

On the Monday I had to go home, boo hoo. We of course took a goodbye selfie before heading back to the coach station. I bought the biggest doughnut I have ever seen from a vendor near Victoria coach station. It was almost the size of my head and boy was it delicious. Om nom nom indeed! At the station I had the pleasure of encountering a super happy, bubbly bathroom attendant. She really brightened up my sad, going home day. I got back to Plymouth ahead of schedule which was awesome and my Dad met me and took me back home to Falmouth. I had an amazing trip and after travelling up on my own I feel like I can do anything!

I filmed a wee haul video showing all the things I bought in London if you are interested. If you like the video remember to give it a thumbs up and maybe even subscribe.

Harry Potter Studio Tour London- Part 2

First off I’m so sorry that it has taken me this long to get around to writing this. The Easter holidays have just ran away with me. I crave routine and currently I have none so nothing gets done! I am trying though so here it is, finally..

(Once again, as I sated in Part 1 these photos are in order so there will be some spoilers in terms of the tour.)

IMG_20150321_200048395

Just after the Hogwarts express there is a lovely cafe that serves food and butterbeer! Of course I had to try some and get a souvenir cup. It was pretty yummy but not at all what I was expecting.

IMG_20150321_202941764

Then outside into the cold. It was pretty cool to see all of these bits at night. Me casually posing where it all began

IMG_20150321_203553976

Thinking about life on the bridge.

IMG_20150321_203828108

I really Don’t trust Oli’s flying…

IMG_20150321_204222637

Not too keen on Helen’s either!

IMG_20150321_205245131

I had always assumed Aragog was in fact just special effects. But no, turns out he’s real and bloody massive! It took 15 people to operate him! Also bonus- to the left you can see the basalisk’s skeleton which is also pretty huge.

IMG_20150321_205530578

Buckbeak was so cute! He moved and was so gentle. It totally looks like he is posing for this selfie with me.

IMG_20150321_205716516

Diagon Alley was possibly my favourite part of the whole tour. It was a full set so it was super immersive, I could have stayed in there forever. Lovely magical Harry Potter music was playing the whole time too and it just felt so right.

IMG_20150321_210012721

“The wand chooses the wizard Harry”.

IMG_20150321_210210606

Weasley’s Wizard Wheezes was pretty impressive. The arm even moved.

IMG_20150321_211029746

Finally on to the massive, detailed as hell, amazing scale model of Hogwarts. This is what was used for all the aerial shots and outside backgrounds. It is so freaking details and just mind boggling. The lights in the room change from day to night and the lights in the windows of the castle come on.

IMG_20150321_211623433

A bit of a point-of-view shot. Doesn’t it feel like we are just about to walk up the many stairs to Hogwarts?

IMG_20150321_211703896

It’s so much bigger than I thought it would be! One last happy photo of me and my friends before we said goodbye to Hogwarts. “I’m not going home, not really”.

IMG_20150321_212336475

The wand room at the end of the tour is amazing. There’s a wand box for every single person who worked on all of the Harry Potter movies.

IMG_20150321_212100789

A beautiful quote from J K Rowling to end a perfect, magical day.

Thank you for indulging me. I had such an amazing day, fangirling all over the place. I hope you liked my photos and they gave you a little insight into how awesome the tour is. Let me know if you’ve been or are planning on going.

Harry Potter Studio Tour London- part 1

I solemnly swear I am up to no good.

As you can probably tell from the title of this post I went to the Warner Bro’s Harry Potter Studio Tour in London! I have wanted to go for so long so when my uni’s Harry Potter Society decided to organise a trip up I jumped on the opportunity. Living all the way down in Cornwall, being pretty broke and not driving means trips like these are a godsend. The whole trip including travel and entrance only cost us £60 each which was amazing! It did mean an early start and a late night as we travelled all the way up and back in one day but it was so worth it. We arrived a little early and had a wander around the overwhelmingly massive shop. I picked up a few little bits which I will probably be sharing with you in part 2 (yes I took so many photos and have so much to say that is warrants 2 posts).

This post is going to talk about and show pictures of the tour in more or less chronological order so if you don’t want things like that spoiled for you then don’t read on. This will also be pretty photo heavy because I took rather a lot!

When you enter the tour you go into a cinema screen where you watch a wee movie where Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint talk about their experience working on the movie. For most of it they are standing in front of the door to the great hall and I was totally unprepared for what happened next. When the movie finished the screen rolled up to reveal the actual door to the great hall!!! I am a super emotional and sentimental person and I started happy-crying. I just thought it was so magical that you start your journey by going through that door just like they did.

professorsThe great hall was awesome, with bits and bobs for each house and the teachers costumes displayed at the front of the hall. It was really weird to look up and just see the studio ceiling instead of the magical, changing ceiling you see in the movies. We obviously had to take a selfie in the Mirror of Erised. I suppose what my hear truly desires is friendship.

IMG_20150321_181225226The huge swinging pendulum clock was petty impressive. I could have stood there for days, calmly mesmerized by its motion. I call this “Selfie with my bestie!”. I love the fat lady so just had to scoop up this chance. interesting fact- Dawn French, who plays the fat lady in Prisoner of Azkaban is going to be sworn in as the Chancellor of Falmouth University on Thursday, pretty rad!

Dumbledores office

Dumbledore’s office was incredible. So many little details that you don’t notice when you watch the movie. I mean all of the portraits are hand painted, imagine how long that must have taken! There are so many shiny, wonderful bits and bobs in cabinets all around, it really was a work of art to behold. There’s even a little window at the back that you can look through and see the little lounge bit right at the back. Even though it’s very background in the movies it’s still there and still looks stunning. Although you didn’t get to enter the office through the amazing statue/door we still got to pose in front of it. Selfie in potions class. The potions class room was really awesome with lots of cauldrons filled with steaming green potions with enchanted spoons magically stirring them.It was so cool to be next to such detailed and pretty large props. Sadly none of us can speak parseltounge so we couldn’t access the Chamber of Secrets.Yes, Umbridge is a mega-bitch but she does have great taste in colours and cat plates! I will take 10 please! We were lucky enough to be some of the first people to experience the new Hogwarts Express exhibition. I was majorly excited to have my picture taken running through the wall at Platform 9 3/4. So fun and so silly.

trainStanding next to the actual Hogwarts express with horns and smoke just felt unreal. It felt like we really were just about to board a train and go onwards to our magical education. The train was pretty cramped when we got inside but it was pretty cool. Each carriage represents a different movie, with little props hinting at each one. My favourite part was right at the end when to my delight a glimpsed the Honeydukes trolley and couldn’t help but say “Anything off the trolley dears?”.

IMG_20150321_193509118_HDRThere was even little fake booths you could sit in which simulated the ride to Hogwarts including escaping chocolate frogs and dementors attacking! It was pretty cool and make a perfect photo opportunity.

I will leave this post here as after this we sat down in the cafe and had a spot of tea. I will be posting part 2 soon so keep your eyes peeled.

Things I Love Thursday

It’s been a few weeks since I’ve done one of these so be prepared for an overload of gratitude from the time I missed!

FotorCreated

❤ House Christmas! A bit late I know but we had our house Christmas at the end of Janurary. Sonera cooked us a delicious vegan roast and we exchanged presents and watched funny youtube videos late into the night. I don’t say it enough but I freaking love my house mates. A year ago when we decided to live together we made such a great choice. (Polariod photos taken by the wonderful Sherrie on her new camera.)

❤ My amazeballs boyfriend Oli brought me a Download Festival ticket as a super early birthday present. I am so happy, grateful and excited! I’m actually going to get to see Marilyn Manson! June is going to be awesome.

❤ On point outfit colour coordination.

foodandskulls

❤ Tidying my desk and organising some of my nick-nacks. A girl can never have too many glittery skulls.

❤ The sorbet in Zizzs is amazing. I had a scoop of each strawberry, lemon and pomegranate and they were all divine. 10/10, would recommend.

❤ My current favourite cocktail- a passion fruit daiquiri from Shed in Falmouth.

❤ Just the fact that I own a huge ampersand thingy. How random and fun. Also I just have so many odd little bits and bobs that make me smile every time I look at them.

❤ Beautiful packaging. I ordered one of these necklaces (I went for D) from Bonbi Forest and it came wrapped in this intricate origami wonderfulness. It was just so unexpected and special and it really added to the whole buying experience. I love Bonbi Forest and the necklace is perfect, I’ve been wearing it almost every day since it arrived.

❤ Madame Moxie’s Masquerade, what a night! Everyone came dressed in awesome fashions: Victorian, Steampunk, Burlesque, and partied the night away. There was cabaret acts, burlesque dancing and a pirate playing industrial sea shanties on a Victorian hurdy gurdy! It was a bizarre and unforgettable evening.

cornishbeauty

❤ How beautiful Falmouth is. These were all taken on different days at different times but they are all so beautiful. I love Falmouth so much. Just going on a walk along the seafront on a sunny day makes me feel like I am on holiday. I never want to leave this little haven.

❤ My wee trip to London with Oli to see his Dad and Grandma. You can read more about the trip here.

bodyconfidence

❤ Having some major body confidence. My body is awesome and I love it. It gets me from A to B and lets me have load of fun! I can swim, cycle, dance, run, skip- #thisgirlcan! I’m working on making it stronger and healthier but love it now and always will.

❤ Beth and her friend Caitlin coming down from Exeter to visit. We has some lunch in town before heading of on a seaside adventure. The weather was lovely and we ended the day with massive ice creams from Swanpool beach cafe. It was great to meet Caitlin and I’m going up to Exeter to see them and celebrate Beth’s birthday in a few weeks, woo!

❤ Mini shopping sprees. Today I went into town and got a few bits. I went for Barry M nail polishes in Berry and Strawberry along with eye shadows in Copper and Gold. The unicorn stickers were from a local discount store and the other bits and bobs were all from Barnardos charity shop including the flowery top I used as a backdrop. I had a fab day today hanging out in town with some uni friends.

Hows that for a lot of awesome gratitude! Join me next week for even more.

A Trip to Purley

Hello my wonderful readers! Sorry I have been neglecting my blog for a while, I’ve been a busy bee however now I have some time and plan to get back to business. Yesterday me and Oli got back from a wee trip. We went up to London (Purley to be exact) to visit Oli’s Dad and Grandma. I was super nervous about meeting Oli’s Grandma but I needn’t have been, she is super lovely and we got on fabulously!

How amazing is the wallpaper  in the downstairs bathroom?!

We were only away for 3 days so didn’t really do much other that a trip into Croydon and a rather extensive Primark splurge. We ate some delicious food courtesy of Oli’s Dad and even had a late mini Christmas with some other relatives. It was really nice to see them all and just relax. We are already planning on going back in the summer and staying for longer so we can do some fun, touristy things in central London.

FotorCreated

I took quite a few pictures while I was away, mainly of the beautiful garden so I thought I would share some of them here. I can’t wait to see it in full bloom in summer!

I really love these photos and had a great time taking them, even if my fingers were absolutely freezing! I will be back to posting more frequently now so keep your eyes open.

Time For Change

Time for the truth. Since starting uni back in 2013 I have put on rather a lot of weight. This wouldn’t really be a problem if it wasn’t for the fact that now most of my beautiful summer dresses don’t fit. I love my dresses. I built up an enviable collection while working in a lovely shop which sold Emily and Finn dresses. They make me feel so pretty and happy and well, like myself so the not fitting is a bit of a big deal. So it’s time to make a change!

I have a pretty big goal- I want to loose 3 stone. That may seem like a lot but if I loose that then I will be back to the weight I was before I started uni. Time for more honesty- I’m shit at diets. If I tell myself “no, you can’t have that” then you can guarantee that’s all I’m going to want to eat. So I’m not going on a diet in the traditional sense, I’m just going to eat what I like just in smaller portions and a lot less of my one true food evil- cheese! I’m also going to make an effort to eat more fruit and veg because they are super yummy, a great snack to fill a gap and healthy.

On top of the better eating I’m actually going to move my arse and get exercising. I stumbled upon the Couch to 5k plan on the NHS website and knew it was for me. In an ideal world I would hire a personal trainer to kick me into shape. I need someone motivating every step of the way so the way the plan works is perfect. Each week you download a podcast to listen to while you run. The podcast guides you through a running work out with sections of walking and sections of running. The aim is to run 3 times a week.  Each week you run for longer amounts of time until eventually you can run 5k non-stop. So far I’ve run twice and I can already feel it getting easier. I’m so excited to progress through the weeks and I will keep you up to date as to how it’s going. I also went for a swim today for the first time in ages. I’d forgotten just how fun it is!

So that’s my aim! I thought if I shared it with you guys on here then I would have some added motivation. Hopefully I will manage to get to my goal weight by the week of Download Festival in mid June. Wish me luck!

Toodles.
