I have spoken about the Glitterati multiple times on this blog so hopefully you will know all about it by now. If not here’s a quick explanation- the Glitterati is a monthly subscription box in which you get at least £50 worth of awesome hair accessories. You also get access to an exclusive and super fun facebook page where you can chat and hang out with the other glitterati gals as well as a special gift on your birthday. So yeah, basically it’s fucking rad as balls! To find out more click here, and if you do decide to sign up quote my name (Emma Robinson) when signing up and we will each get a voucher to spend on the Crown and Glory site!

Anyway, August 2016 marks the 2 year anniversary of the Glitterati! 2 years of amazing glitter filled fun! I have been a member since September 2014 so nearly the whole time. I’ve had so much fun receiving my box each month and planning how I’m going to wear all the fabulous pieces. The facebook group has really been the cherry on top of the mega pie that is the Glitterati. So many amazing women all in one place sharing selfies, achievements, plans, worries, pet photos, the list goes on. It has become so much more than just a subscription box. I have had the pleasure of going to five different Glitterati meet ups now. Each one has been so much fun! I’ve made so many friends and taken so many selfies. Seriously, this group has been life changing and given me so much confidence so thank you so much to Sophie and Gareth for bring us all together and of course to the amazing souls who make the Glitterati what it is- a family.

On to the unboxing! I’m really getting into filming videos for youtube lately so I decided to film an unboxing video. I had so much fun filming it… not so much fun cleaning up… you will see what I mean if you watch the video below!

Happy Birthday to the Glitterati! Here’s to another year of awesomeness.

If you enjoyed the video please subscribe to my youtube channel to see what I get up to next. Feel free to comment on this post or on the video to let me know what you think.

My Trip to London!

So as you will know if you read my last blog post I went to London about a week ago. My main reason for going was the Glitterati party however I decided to make a weekend of it with my friend Saskia who lives in London.

I was super nervous about travelling up on my own. The furtherest I’d ever been alone before was Exeter and that was all by train. This was a 6 hour coach journey from Plymouth all on my lonesome. I made sure to get some Rescue Remedy pastels after one of the Glitterati girls recommended them and packed my ipod and a good book to tide me over. The journey was actually much better and easier than I expected it to be. Everything ran to schedule until we hit central London, which is kinda to be expected, and I got a lot of reading done. Saskia met me at the station and all was good. We took a tube back to hers and had a good catch up over Dominos pizza.

We had a few places we wanted to visit on the Saturday before I went to the party and the first one was Cuppa Cha in China Town. Saskia had been going on about bubble tea for ages and I was super keen to try some but when we got there it was sadly shut. Undeterred we decided to pop along to the new 3 storey Lush on Oxford Street and come back later.

Oxford Street Lush is freaking amazing! It’s so massive and colourful and just heavenly for a girl like me. We spent a good hour wandering around the floors just looking and smelling before I even put anything in my basket. What I found super cool and odd is how each floor smelt totally different. On the top floor, where all the bath bombs are, I was tasked with finding my sister one of the 200 exclusive products that she would like. After some fun demonstrations I went with the Frozen bath bomb and an “I am a radiant being” bath oil. On the middle floor I had my arm ex-foliated with this awesome soap-powder stuff. It’s kinda like washing powder but for your skin. It made my arm super soft. We then went down to the relaxing bottom floor and both had an arm massage. So calming after the rush upstairs. I was pretty reserved and only bought myself 3 things. (At the end of this post I will include a haul video so you can see everything I bought whilst away.)

After all that Lush intensity we decided it was time to go back to Cuppa Cha then get some lunch. The bubble tea was amazing! I went for a mango tea with strawberry popping pearls and it was both refreshing and fun to drink. It’s a pretty weird sensation having the tiny bubbles pop in your mouth, releasing extra favours, but it was so fun and I bought 2 more bubble teas from another place while I was away. We then went to Yo Sushi for lunch which was pretty nostalgic for us because we ate in the same place we went to almost 4 years ago! I successfully managed to eat my whole meal, including noodles, with chopsticks which is a serious achievement for me. We then went to Topshop for a browse but only bough one thing before heading off to Kensington for the party. We promptly got lost but were eventually saved by an army of glittery angels but you can read more about that here.

I caught the tube back to Waterloo from Kensington with a little help from the wonderful Glitterati member Amber. She made sure I got on the right train and told me where to change for which I am forever grateful. I usually get panicky trying to plan things and figure out where I’m going but once I am on my way I’m fine. Saskia met me from the station again and we went back to hers and spent the rest of the night watching Eurovision and getting way too into it! I love watching Eurovision with friends, you never really know what to expect.

On the Sunday the plan was to go the the East End Thrift Store however due to a bus replacement we got kinda lost and confused in Whitechapel and ended up going for a cheeky Nando’s instead. It was surprisingly yummy and I can confirm much banter occurred and we did see some “lads”. As we had some time left after our cheeky detour we decided to pop back over to Topshop so I could get something else and we could just have a bit more of a browse. Saskia ended up getting the most amazing varsity-type jacket with “Girl Gang” embroidered across the back. So cute and so perfectly her.

H&M ended up being out final shopping destination and I was somewhat overwhelmed by just how many floors there were! You could so easily get lost in there! I picked up a bunch of things to try on but before I got to the changing room I noticed a photobooth. I never like to pass up a good photobooth moment so of course I was digging around in my wallet straight away. We put the money in and looked at the screen expecting instructions but before we could even sit down the flash went off and the first photo was snapped! We managed to sit down and somewhat compose ourselves for the second shot but I love the above result! It’s very silly and us.

That night we chilled out eating cookies and doing facemasks, embracing the sleepover vibe. We also had a rather hilarious suncream related incident where everything in my bag ended up covered in it! It was one of those disastrous times when just when you think you’ve got everything sorted more goes wrong and more mess is caused. I don’t think I’ve laughed that hard for a long time though!

On the Monday I had to go home, boo hoo. We of course took a goodbye selfie before heading back to the coach station. I bought the biggest doughnut I have ever seen from a vendor near Victoria coach station. It was almost the size of my head and boy was it delicious. Om nom nom indeed! At the station I had the pleasure of encountering a super happy, bubbly bathroom attendant. She really brightened up my sad, going home day. I got back to Plymouth ahead of schedule which was awesome and my Dad met me and took me back home to Falmouth. I had an amazing trip and after travelling up on my own I feel like I can do anything!

I filmed a wee haul video showing all the things I bought in London if you are interested. If you like the video remember to give it a thumbs up and maybe even subscribe.

The Glitterati Parties- London

IMG_20150528_191945197 Last Saturday (the 23rd of May) Sophie from Crown and Glory organised an amazing party for the Glitterati subscribers and it was amazing! I travelled all the way up to London for it and it was so worth the journey.

About half of the group were planning on meeting in Kensington Gardens for a wee picnic before hand but me and Saskia were running late and were kinda lost. However all was okay when I spotted a group of colourful, glittery, flower-adorned women waving at me from across the street. I had found my people! When I was safely with them Saskia went home and we went for a little Cafe Nero break before heading off to the party… half an hour early, oops! Sophie wasn’t expecting us early and it cause a bit of a queue on the stairs to the basement, where the Crown and Glory Candy Bar was, but we were all happy to finally be there!

The first thing we were treated to was our amazing goodie bags full of treats from the likes of Oh Squirrel, Sugar and Vice and I love Crafty. It was so funny watching everyone try to figure out what the mini macarons were- are they edible. rubbers, lipbalms? (turns out they are little pots) All of the gifts were so thoughtful but the icing on the cake for me has to be the cards everyone got. Each one was different and filled with a personal heartfelt message, my Veronica Dearly card made me smile so much. Our ticket price included creating a custom flower crown, headband, clip or facinator from the Crown and Glory Candy Shop. I chose pink, turquoise and purple flowers and some sparkly crystals to create a glorious headband. We will be getting them in next months box so I will be sure to share it with you!

The party continued upstairs in the beautiful Anges de Sucre with many a glass of prosecco and some of their adorable and delicious mini macarons, cupcakes, bownies and marshmallows. I was on such a sugar high all night! I spoke to so many amazing women and got totally wrapped up in the whole magical experience and forgot to take many photos however a few other people did take some and are okay with me sharing them so here’s a little photographic snippet of the night.

So cute and so freaking yummy! You can order these treats online and trust me when I say- soon they will be mine once again *slightly evil, sugar induced laugh*.

The décor inside and our is so pretty and perfect for a flowery party. I need their wallpaper in my future home.

I have no idea what I was taking about but everyone seems to be interested! I was so nervous about meeting so many new people all at once but they were all so nice and welcoming that it felt like chatting away to old friends almost instantly. There wasn’t one awkward silence all night and I felt completely at home.

I’ve been calling this my “cool blogger photo” because it just looks so professional and networky. I realise now that makes no sense but I know what I mean. I felt very in my element, all my anxiety vanished for the evening and I am so proud of myself. Luckily I remembered to take a selfie with the wonderful owner of Crown and Glory- Sophie. She was so nice and we had a great chat about Cornwall and small businesses and going charity shopping in Falmouth because that’s where all the good things are! I tried to hold in my inner fangirl but then remembered the project I did at uni last year that centred around Crown and Glory- I hope I didn’t come across as too much of a weirdo! I once again attempted to control my inner fangirl when I got the chance to snap a selfie with Kat from Rock ‘n’ Roll Bride. She was amazing and so easy to talk to. I told her how happy her recent post about body positivity and not feeling pressured to loose weight for your wedding made me. On another note don’t our hair colours go so well together?! Kat was such a babe and I’m so glad I plucked up the courage to talk to her.

I had such a fabulous night with some freaking amazing people! The Glitterati party in London will always hold a place in my heart as will everyone I met there. I don’t have to wait too long to see some of these babes again though because I am going to the Glitterati party in Birmingham on June 20th! So excited and this time I will try to take more photos! Thank you to the staff at Anges de Sucre for providing sweet treats, Sophie and Gareth for putting on an amazing event and constantly creating beautiful head candy and the Glitterati girls for just being their wonderful selves! Keep your eyes peeled for more about my trip to London! Toodles!

Sunday Poetry

Happy Sunday everyone!

As some of you may know, I am studying Creative Writing at university. I thought it was about time I shared some of my work with you all. In class on Friday we were experimenting with poetry. We did a few spontaneous writing exercises where we were all given an arty postcard as a starting point then our lecturer asked questions to move our writing along. It was really new and fun for me. I enjoyed writing quickly, without any time to second guess myself. We wrote two poems and I really liked the first one I wrote so that’s what I am going to be sharing on here today. I edited it very slightly (organising punctuation and structure) but it’s pretty much just what I wrote on the spot in class.

Balloon Battles

Flowing fabric licking thick thighs
the sun beating down
forming midday beads of sweat.
Rainbow carnival colours;
orange, green,
red, blue.
Energy, celebrations,
drinking and dancing.
The drums in the distance
calling the party to arms.
Full-frontal joy
into balloon battles.
A moment of happiness
for what has been given.
Life, that is all.
Birds in shades of ocean
creeping from a tender grasp.
A skull ever present,
life only temporary.
Always there looming
begging the beat on.
The women glancing
toward the bouncing noises
the booms moving them along.
A figure walks in with a flourish
joining the swaying, surging crowd
light is what she brings.
Flowing fabric licking thick thighs.

Poetry is something pretty new to me so I was a little nervous about sharing this. Please let me know what you think in the comments, I would really love some feedback. Hopefully I will have more creative work to share in the future.

Well I’ve survived 20 years!

I am now a 20 year old! Woooo! It was my birthday on Friday the 5th and I had a blast of a day. I started the day with presents and kisses in bed with my lovely boyfriend before being whisked off to Swanpool beach for a spot of lunch. Their ciabattas are so delicious, I could eat one everyday. I also had one of their famous, massive icecreams. I opted for the “Monkey Business” which consists of two scoops of vanilla icecream, clotted cream and chocolate coated dried banana all balanced on a cone. Nom!

10636243_833042133396374_7261878895263718809_n

I then wandered to my Mum’s house to see her, my Sister and Nana. They greeted me by singing happy birthday then gave me some awesome cards and gifts. I chilled there for a bit before heading home. My super wonderful housemates surprised me by decorating the living room with floaty scarves and birthday banners. Sonera also made me a pink cake adorned with chocolate cats!

10291091_10203481023120914_6514938482911823190_n

Check out all of this cake! The pink one was made by Sonera, the brownie type one was made by Saskia and the lovely marble cake was made by my cousin Lewis. I was so spoilt for choice!

On to the evening! All my friends came round and bombarded me with more heartfelt gifts before we headed upstairs to parrrrrttty! We played a bunch of drinking games which resulted in Oli declaring his love to one of the neighbours and Saskia sticking her hand in our wormery! All in the name of dares of course. We then headed into town the dance the night away! We had the club pretty much all to ourselves which was kinda weird but also freaking cool because we could be total oddballs without being judged.

Now I thought it would be nice to show you guys my presents! It’s also a nice way for me to say thank you to everyone who came to my party and everyone who gave me presents. I love you all so much and am so happy to have you in my life.

Firstly my tattoo! I got this a few days before my birthday but it was paid for with birthday money from my Mum, Nana, Oli, Beth, Lowri and my Dad. I love it so much! The art work is by Bei Badgirl and tattooed by the fabulous Josie at Shaded Lady in Falmouth.

Sun, Scrumptious food and Spells

Just thought I would write a post about my pretty kick ass weekend! To start with my weekend began on Friday which is always a bonus. Me and my future housemates decided to go for a celebratory, getting a house for July, lunch at The Secret Garden veggie cafe in Truro. The food was in a word, orgasmic! I don’t know what I was expecting but whatever it was this was way better!

It was so nice for a change to look at a menu and be able to eat the majority of the food on it. The tables really were turned as the menu featured a “carnivorous corner! For the one you dragged along”. I went for the quesadilla and a side of sweet potato wedges with local cider to drink. It was all so insanely delicious! I really feel as though no amount of words will really explain just how good this food was. I even ate all the salad which for me is a biggie! My mum always tells me I am a funny vegetarian because I rarely eat salad, this one however I loved. Not sure if it was the variety of leaves or the subtle, tangy dressing, but it just worked. The quesadilla was filled with big chunks of pepper and courgette and gooey Cornish cheddar. The portion of sweet potato wedges was massive! I didn’t think I was going to be able to finish them but I persevered because they were just too divine to leave.

Dessert was equally amazing. I went for the blueberry and white chocolate cheesecake which looked so pretty I just had to Instagram it before digging in. The slightly sharp taste of the blueberry compote was really complimented by the creamy cheesecake and crumbly biscuity base. Definitely the best meal I have eaten for a long time! The rest of the day was spent in the sun at the beautiful Victoria gardens, sipping Starbucks coffee and relaxing like the good old days.

Yesterday was the day of my friend Adams long awaited, Harry Potter themed, early birthday party. The day was filled with rushing around trying to get things done before my friends came round to get ready for the party. The actual getting ready process involved more rushing around and trying to work around each other in my cluttered room. Eventually Tonks (me for the night) and two fairies were ready to party the night away.

We didn’t get back til gone 2am which in my opinion is clarification that it was a bloody good party! The night consisted of meeting new people, a sorting ceremony, frustratedly shouting quiz answers, drinking games and far too much information about everyones sex lives! Adam put so much effort into decorating the flat to make it feel like a magical wonderland. We came in through the brick wall in the Leaky Cauldron then proceeded to the Great Hall complete with Gryffindor banners and floating candles.

Today (well after 1:30pm, when I actually woke up… oops!) was spent doing a spot of shopping at Asda, mostly just because I wanted to go out and enjoy the sun while it sticks around, followed by a bit of Library research. This weekend has been awesome, I really hope I have more like it soon!
